I'm 5'6" and only weigh about 135 lbs. I have been to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist and began the following course of treatment(s) in April of 2001. So far, I've undergone surgery to:

... (which has been the most uncomfortable experience, next to childbirth, of my life!) I've read up on the internet that this procedure can take anywhere from 1-3 treatments to become fully effective but I honestly would NEVER follow up with a 2nd or 3rd treatment, it's been that bad. At this point, I have a HUGE hole (ulcer) surrounding my uvula that looks like it wants to swallow my uvula up! Prior to that, a LOT of mucous drip, horrible tasting stuff in my mouth, tissue hanging in my throat that was gagging me until it finally loosened up (I must have swallowed it in the middle of the night-YUK!). My Specialist is on vacation until next week but it was so bad, so painful for me, that I made an emergency stop into the office and saw his partner, who changed my pain medication and put me on antibiotics. I've missed 2 days of work with this, the following day after the procedure and yesterday because the pain was so intense with the growing ulcer. At night, my mouth becomes so dry that I wake up to drink water and it hurts so bad at that point to swallow. As the day goes by, the pain lessens with the constant flow of saliva bathing my throat in addition to the Hydrocodone pill that I take every 4 hours or so. The problem with the pain medication is that it bothers my stomach so at this point, I'm just waiting it out, hoping that once all heals, I (and my soulmate) won't have such a hard time with my snoring problem.

Editors Note: We're reprinting this from the earlier version of our Forum. Laura subsequently reported that she was feeling better -- but it was still too early to gauge the effectiveness of the treatment in stopping her snoring.
